About
LeftCentral is a comment and analysis forum for radical and progressive writers: reds and greens, socialists and liberals, campaigners and complainers – whatever you want to call yourself. LeftCentral is not aligned to any single party, although individually our contributors can and do support whomever they want.
LeftCentral has a growing network of regular writers, but we also welcome ad hoc contributions from anyone with expertise, insight and an ability to write engagingly about politics. Anonymous contributions are welcome; many of our contributors work in politically-sensitive jobs and therefore prefer not to be identified.
Staff:
Seamus Peter Johnstone Macleod, Editor: Seamus writes for The Pryer, covering the economic crisis in and around the eurozone, dealing specifically with the issues of sovereignty and intergovernmental relations that have been thrown into the spotlight since 2008. He also occasionally writes on more eclectic topics for Catch21 Productions and edits Glasgow University’s online academic journal, eSharp. He has completed an MA (A Scottish undergrad rather than a real one) and an MSc and so now introduces himself as “master of all things.”

Daniel Crump, News Editor: Daniel has recently graduated from the University of Glasgow after completing both an M.A in Philosophy and an MS.c in Political Communication. He currently works as a Media Coordinator for Friends of the Earth and has worked on promoting campaigns and demonstrations that help to raise awareness of environmental issues. His interest in politics covers a wide area but is particularly focused upon International Politics and media coverage of foreign affairs.
And our regular writers are:
Georgia Lewis: Georgia is an Australian journalist who lives and works in London. Prior to that, she worked for five years in the Middle East and for 10 years in Australia. She has written about a broad range of subjects over the years, including motoring, health, entertainment, business and travel. For Left Central, she particularly enjoys writing about women’s issues, the media and the Middle East.
John Lucas: John is a freelance writer and photographer with a special interest in political and social affairs. If he wasn’t a news junkie he would have been a professional footballer, or so he likes to think.
Andrew Noakes: Andrew is a master’s student in International Relations at King’s College London and is Chair of the Young European Movement London. He has previously worked as a human rights investigator in West Africa and his main interests include conflict, security, human rights, and international development.
Dominic Turner: Raised in South Wales, Dominic Turner has first-hand experience of the consequences of capitalism and neo-liberalism. He sees a truly democratic and decentralised society as the only defence against greed and so-called “creative destruction.” Describing himself as a libertarian socialist, he hopes to pursue a career in Human Rights law.
